Cultural and Social Benefits
Preserving rare books and enhancing the national image
Digital image of local documentsThe digitization of rare books can reduce the usage of the original documents and thereby preserve them for posterity in keeping with the NCL's mandate.
Conserving storage space and improving access
By digitizing collection materials, the library can save storage space, streamline management work, and improve access to these resources. Digital images can also be easily enlarged or reduced to meet user needs.
Preserving local documents and fostering local awareness
Copies of digitized local documents are kept at various local government cultural bureaus, document committees and the NCL to facilitate public access to these materials and enhance local awareness.
Facilitating academic research and encouraging outstanding development
Periodicals and newspapers not only serve as a record of culture and society, they are also important media for conveying information and research developments. However, due to their high usage, these types of publications are difficult to preserve. The Digital Archive Plan will ensure these academic and cultural resources remain available to the public forever and can be readily accessed, reducing the urban-rural divide.
