Background

Universal education, social transitions, technological progress, the growing demand for knowledge, and cultural enhancement have heightened the need for the preservation of national documents and library information services. In fulfilling these responsibilities, the NCL needs to fully utilize new and developing information technology to digitize precious national archives for proper preservation and convenient access. The library faces a formidable challenge in providing faster, more complete and higher quality access to the vast resources in its collection. Ample preparation is required for the library to meet these challenges and meet the needs of the public and future development of Taiwan.
